Our school year is officially underway, and it has been wonderful to have our Mustangs back in the building! Our halls are once again filled with the smiles, energy, and excitement that make our school such a special place. It has been so exciting to welcome our students back and begin another year of learning, growing, and making memories together.
Our first days of school have been filled with new routines, new learning, and lots of opportunities to reconnect with friends and teachers. We know that the first week can bring a mix of excitement and a few butterflies, and we are so proud of how our Mustangs have jumped right in! Thank you to our students for being flexible and patient as we learn our routines together.
A very special thank you goes to our families for your partnership during this first week. We appreciate your patience and support as everyone gets accustomed to our arrival and dismissal procedures. Establishing these routines takes a little time, but they are so important in helping us keep all of our students safe and ensure that our school days get off to a smooth start.
As we look ahead to the coming weeks, our focus will continue to be on building strong classroom communities, establishing routines, and creating a positive environment where every child feels welcomed, supported, and ready to learn. We are excited about all that this school year has in store!
We are so grateful for the partnership and support of our Millridge families as we begin this exciting school year together. We are off to a fantastic start, and we cannot wait to see where this year takes us!

When dropping your child off in the car rider line, please have your child exit the vehicle from the passenger/right side of the car whenever possible. We understand that car seats, vehicle configurations, and other circumstances may make this challenging at times. However, students exiting from the driver/left side can put them in the path of vehicles that are moving through the line. Our number one priority is keeping every child safe. If you are able to switch sides that car seats are on to make this happen, we would greatly appreciate it!
To help us keep the line moving smoothly, we also ask that you turn off child locks when a staff member approaches so that we can get your child out and keep the line moving. If your child is able to open the door independently, having them do so is a great way to help us keep the line moving. Please do not have your child open a door until a staff member is near or looking.
We know that everyone is trying to get where they need to go, and we are working hard to make arrival both safe and efficient for everyone. We truly appreciate your patience, cooperation, and partnership as we work together to get our students into school safely each morning.

Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
Students must report to the classroom before 8:00 AM or are considered tardy. Students arriving after 8:00 AM must be accompanied by a parent/guardian and report directly to the office for sign-in and will be marked tardy.
Morning Drop-Off
Thank you for working with our staff to make this process safe and smooth each day! Cars may come into the main driveway off of Brainard Road AND Millridge Road (not before 7:40am as buses will be dropping off), and enter to the loading zone near the main entrance (door 5). Cars should pull forward along the sides of the building. Please be ON TIME for drop off and pick up. Staff is not available for before/after care; if you need arrangements for before and/or aftercare please register with Right at School.
DROP OFF: Doors Open at 7:45 AM and Tardy Bell rings at 8:00 AM
- Car drop-off entry will be off of Brainard Road and drop off will be at door #5 only. After 7:40am, you may enter on Millridge Rd. and loop around to the drop off at door 5. Please do not enter through Millridge Rd. before 7:40am as the buses will be dropping off before then. Thank you for having your child remain in the car until you pull up to this door. Upper elementary students will not be able to enter near door #8.
- In order to keep the flow of traffic moving safely and quickly, we ask that parents do NOT get out of the car during arrival. Our caring and dedicated staff assist with arrival/dismissal and all children are escorted by an adult to keep our young scholars safe. If your child is having difficulty exiting the car properly, you will be asked to park your car in the parking lot and bring your child into the school.
- Walkers are able to arrive from the Brainard Road entrance (door #5) or off of Millridge Road near door #1. The closest door to your home is the door you can use to enter the building.
Tardy Arrivals: If you arrive after 8:00am you need to park and sign your child in Tardy at the Front office.
ATTENDANCE: Teachers will be taking attendance at the start of the school day. If your child will be late or absent please enter an Infinite Campus absence request, call in the office at 440-995-7250 and/or email your child(ren's) teacher(s).

Dismissal begins at 2:20pm - please be prompt!!!
Changes to drop off and/or pick up should be emailed in advance to your TEACHER and the main office. If it is a same day change, please call the office 440-995-7250 before 1:30pm unless it is an unavoidable emergency.
If you are choosing to do car pick up the following procedure will be utilized:
- When entering Millridge’s parking lot, please enter off of Brainard Road only.
- Park in any open parking spot within our parking lot - there is no curb lane parking.
- At 2:25, you may enter through Door 4, the Gym, to sign your student out.
- Students will be in grade level lines, with a staff member supervising them.
- Students will only be dismissed to persons listed on Infinite Campus’ Parent Portal, you will need your ID for verification. Please be sure Infinite Campus is updated to reflect who will be picking up your child.
REMINDERS:
**Please exit the parking lot with caution. There will be a lot of moving traffic, and we want to keep our students and families safe. Our school resource officer will be in the gym ensuring safe exit and entry of our building. Again, use caution when exiting and entering the parking lot.
*Students arriving before 7:50am will be in a classroom in their grade level with supervision and will be provided quiet activities to ensure a smooth and successful start to the school day.*

Welcome to the new school year! I am so excited to see your children and meet new students! I know separating and saying goodbye can be so hard, especially when there are tears involved. But I wanted to remind you that the tears don’t mean your children aren’t ready to be here. And when we stay until the tears stop, keep coming back for one more hug, or try to convince them to feel better before we leave, we can unintentionally make the goodbye even harder.
Instead, keep your goodbye warm, predictable and confident.
Validate their feelings. Remind them what happens next. And follow through.
You’re sending an important message without having to say it: “I know this is hard and I trust that you can handle it.”
The goal isn’t to teach kids that hard feelings have to disappear before they can move forward.
It’s to help them learn that they can feel sad, miss us, say goodbye - and still be ok.
Read through the steps below to help work through separating and the anxiety that may come with it. Check out the books to share with your children too. And if I can be an extra support in this transition, please let me know. 💚

We’d love for you to be a part of our Parent-Teacher Group (PTG) this year! We are currently working hard to get our website updated, membership information and our calendar of events finalized. Look for more information in our August newsletters.

If you are picking up your child early for an appointment, star student lunch, or anything else, please be sure to fill out a dismissal change form to ensure that our office staff knows, and we can keep your children safe and accounted for!
If it is a last minute emergency change, please be sure to call the office no later than 1:30pm to ensure that we can get your child where they need to be before dismissal begins.

You have access to a revolutionary smartphone app that helps to improve communication, school bus safety, and efficiency. The Edulog Parent Portal app provides you with planned time and location information for your child's bus ride to and from school. On a daily basis, the app will show you the GPS location of the bus and send you a push notification when it is nearing your bus stop.
This app is free of charge for our parents, caregivers, and students. In addition to displaying the location of your bus and sending the notifications, you can also receive time-sensitive messages from our transportation department. You will also receive notification when a substitute bus is running your route due to maintenance, absences, etc.
The Edulog Parent Portal app integrates with our school bus routing system, which is also provided by Education Logistics, Inc. (Edulog), a premier provider of school bus technology. School bus locations are sent from a GPS device installed on each bus which not only provides up-to-date information for you, but also for our school bus maintenance staff who need to know the real-time location of each bus for maintenance and other service requirements.
Security is important. Only you have access to your student’s transportation information through the app via a secure login process. You must know your student’s school of attendance, ID number and date of birth in addition to the exact spelling of his or her first name and last name.
Please know that our goal is to provide safe and efficient transportation for all Mayfield City Scholl children riding our buses and vans. By improving communication and expanding the information available to you by implementing this app, we are working hard to meet and exceed that goal.

Dear Mayfield Schools Parent or Guardian,
As the new school year approaches, Households are encouraged to apply for free or reduced priced meals. The free reduced meal application is also used to determine eligibility for free or reduced school fees and/or P-EBT benefits. Please complete an application if you are interested in applying for any of these benefits. For the 2026-2027 school year, the State of Ohio will reimburse schools $0.40 for a reduced-price lunch. Students eligible for reduced-price meals will receive lunch at no cost.
Applications can be submitted online by logging into your Parent Portal (Infinite Campus) and clicking on More-Meal benefits. You can click on link below for more info.
Disregard if an application was already submitted, a message will appear in the portal stating it was processed.
Households must apply every year. If anyone in the household is on SNAP, you will automatically be approved for free meals and will receive notification by email/portal message.
Lunch prices are as follows:
Elementary Lunch is $3.25
Middle School is $3.50 and High School is $3.75.
Lunch payments can be made using the Parent Portal. Go to Food Service and click the blue pay button.
All payments must be made online.

Mayfield Church, located at 7747 Mayfield Road in Chesterland, remains dedicated to supporting individuals and families facing food insecurity through several ongoing and new community food initiatives.

Blessing Box: Available daily outside the west entrance, stocked regularly with essential food items.

Sunday Fellowship Food: Free food is served every Sunday during Fellowship Time at 10:30 a.m. and again at 12:00 p.m.

Monthly Community Meal: Enjoy a free meal on the last Friday of each month from 5:00–6:30 p.m. (November 28 & December 26 for the remainder of the year)

Weekly Bread & Pastries: Heinen’s bakery and bread donations are distributed to the church every Wednesday afternoon around 3 pm to those in need.

New - Little Food Pantry: Now open in the church’s main entryway. Take what you need and donate what you can. Open weekdays between 9 am - 3 pm. Please call for weekend hours, 440.729.4006.
