Our second week of school is underway, and it has been wonderful to see our Mustangs settling into their routines and getting into the rhythm of another exciting school year! Our classrooms are filled with learning, laughter, and opportunities to build new friendships and strengthen our school community. As we continue to establish routines and expectations, we are so proud of the flexibility, kindness, and Mustang Pride our students are demonstrating each day.
This week, we were especially excited to kick off our 2026–2027 PBIS school year with our Welcome Back Kickoff Assembly, “ROAR to Victory!” Our students were reminded that we are ONE team and were introduced to our ROAR “playbook,” which will guide us in making positive choices and showing ROAR every day. A special thank-you goes to our PBIS team for planning and organizing such a fun and energetic kickoff for our students. We are also incredibly grateful to the high school football players, coaches, cheerleaders, and band for joining us and helping make this celebration possible. Their energy, enthusiasm, and school spirit made the morning so memorable and helped get our Mustangs excited about the year ahead! We look forward to seeing our students put their ROAR skills into action throughout the school year.

As we wrap up our second week, we are proud of the way our Mustangs have embraced their new classrooms, teachers, routines, and responsibilities. We have already seen so many wonderful examples of students learning, connecting, and showing what it means to be part of our Millridge community. We are excited to continue building on this positive start and making this a successful year together!
We hope all of our Mustang families have a wonderful and relaxing Labor Day weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Tuesday!

On behalf of Mayor Chuck Brunello, Jr., we would like to extend an invitation to all Mayfield City School District students and their families to attend The City of Highland Heights Safety Services Night.
Everyone can meet our safety forces and members from our Service Department, along with all the vehicles they use to keep us safe.
This event will take place on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Highland Heights Community Park, located at 5905 Wilson Mills Road.

Welcome to the new school year! I am so excited to see your children and meet new students! I know separating and saying goodbye can be so hard, especially when there are tears involved. But I wanted to remind you that the tears don’t mean your children aren’t ready to be here. And when we stay until the tears stop, keep coming back for one more hug, or try to convince them to feel better before we leave, we can unintentionally make the goodbye even harder.
Instead, keep your goodbye warm, predictable and confident.
Validate their feelings. Remind them what happens next. And follow through.
You’re sending an important message without having to say it: “I know this is hard and I trust that you can handle it.”
The goal isn’t to teach kids that hard feelings have to disappear before they can move forward.
It’s to help them learn that they can feel sad, miss us, say goodbye - and still be ok.
Read through the steps below to help work through separating and the anxiety that may come with it. Check out the books to share with your children too. And if I can be an extra support in this transition, please let me know. 💚

If you are picking up your child early for an appointment, star student lunch, or anything else, please be sure to fill out a dismissal change form to ensure that our office staff knows, and we can keep your children safe and accounted for!
If it is a last minute emergency change, please be sure to call the office no later than 1:30pm to ensure that we can get your child where they need to be before dismissal begins.

You have access to a revolutionary smartphone app that helps to improve communication, school bus safety, and efficiency. The Edulog Parent Portal app provides you with planned time and location information for your child's bus ride to and from school. On a daily basis, the app will show you the GPS location of the bus and send you a push notification when it is nearing your bus stop.
This app is free of charge for our parents, caregivers, and students. In addition to displaying the location of your bus and sending the notifications, you can also receive time-sensitive messages from our transportation department. You will also receive notification when a substitute bus is running your route due to maintenance, absences, etc.
The Edulog Parent Portal app integrates with our school bus routing system, which is also provided by Education Logistics, Inc. (Edulog), a premier provider of school bus technology. School bus locations are sent from a GPS device installed on each bus which not only provides up-to-date information for you, but also for our school bus maintenance staff who need to know the real-time location of each bus for maintenance and other service requirements.
Security is important. Only you have access to your student’s transportation information through the app via a secure login process. You must know your student’s school of attendance, ID number and date of birth in addition to the exact spelling of his or her first name and last name.
Please know that our goal is to provide safe and efficient transportation for all Mayfield City Scholl children riding our buses and vans. By improving communication and expanding the information available to you by implementing this app, we are working hard to meet and exceed that goal.

Dear Mayfield Schools Parent or Guardian,
As the new school year approaches, Households are encouraged to apply for free or reduced priced meals. The free reduced meal application is also used to determine eligibility for free or reduced school fees and/or P-EBT benefits. Please complete an application if you are interested in applying for any of these benefits. For the 2026-2027 school year, the State of Ohio will reimburse schools $0.40 for a reduced-price lunch. Students eligible for reduced-price meals will receive lunch at no cost.
Applications can be submitted online by logging into your Parent Portal (Infinite Campus) and clicking on More-Meal benefits. You can click on link below for more info.
Disregard if an application was already submitted, a message will appear in the portal stating it was processed.
Households must apply every year. If anyone in the household is on SNAP, you will automatically be approved for free meals and will receive notification by email/portal message.
Lunch prices are as follows:
Elementary Lunch is $3.25
Middle School is $3.50 and High School is $3.75.
Lunch payments can be made using the Parent Portal. Go to Food Service and click the blue pay button.
All payments must be made online.

Mayfield Church, located at 7747 Mayfield Road in Chesterland, remains dedicated to supporting individuals and families facing food insecurity through several ongoing and new community food initiatives.

Blessing Box: Available daily outside the west entrance, stocked regularly with essential food items.

Sunday Fellowship Food: Free food is served every Sunday during Fellowship Time at 10:30 a.m. and again at 12:00 p.m.

Monthly Community Meal: Enjoy a free meal on the last Friday of each month from 5:00–6:30 p.m. (November 28 & December 26 for the remainder of the year)

Weekly Bread & Pastries: Heinen’s bakery and bread donations are distributed to the church every Wednesday afternoon around 3 pm to those in need.

New - Little Food Pantry: Now open in the church’s main entryway. Take what you need and donate what you can. Open weekdays between 9 am - 3 pm. Please call for weekend hours, 440.729.4006.

Our Student Success Center helps students in grades K – 8 improve their academic skills and subject comprehension, all for free. Students who participate in the program receive homework assistance and/or academic enrichment from each of our centers' staff in English language arts, math, reading, science and social studies. An Open House will be on September 8 from 4:00-6:30 for anyone interested in the program. It runs Monday through Thursday, 4:00-6:30. Registration is required.
